Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe

Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe episode 1 of 6 of the webisodes debuts today at 11AM EST on Comicbook.com. A new episode will be ready to view each day at 11AM until all parts have aired. Comicbook.com will have the viewing rights for a short time so please GO WATCH THESE EPISODES!!! Us Valiant Comics fans have been waiting a long time for this web series to finally hit. The anticipation is HUGE!!!

Agents of Shield… Ready for The End

The final episode of the season/series is titled The End and I’m ready for The End. The budget must be next to nothing this year because virtually every scene takes place in a dark hall. This was understandable for the first part of the season when they were in space but now back on Earth… It’s just getting boring and dragging on and on. It feels like the writers either lost what made this show fun to watch or the limited budget just doesn’t allow for anything good to actually happen. Therefore.. I’m ready for it to just end.

The Internet… Ruined by Troll Comments

Someone posted some cool pics of their trip to Israel online and I wish they would have been able to disable the comments. Sure enough… some troll posted that it was “Palestine.” I guess you could lump him in with the millions of other dumbfucks who never learned anything about history and don’t realize that there is no Palestine. Just because you make up a name doesn’t make it a place. But I digress. This is why I increasingly try to avoid comments and debate on the web now. Instead of just letting people enjoy this other persons trip and the pictures they took, he had to be an ultra douche and chime in with his stupid comment.

For the record… The Palestinian side… get’s all of their water, food, electricity, and aid subsidized by Israel. So if they hate Israel so much… I’m a-ok with cutting this all off and letting them fend for themselves. That’s what a real country would do.

I got nothing else for today… Enjoy the Weekend… This has been the Streamline!!!

New Comic Book Reviews for the Week of 4/18/18

Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe (#4 or 4) (Valiant)

The final issue that is the companion to the coming web series (to be released in just a few days) is here, and what an action packed conclusion it is!!! If the web series follows this is 4 issue mini series and looks good, then I will be more than happy to see the Valiant world on screen, even if it is the small, small, screen. I have to say, I love the art in this mini series and I actually like Ninjak’s costume better here than in his main series. It really comes off as being very tech ninja, which is what Ninjak is all about. So check this series out and get ready for the web series coming in just a few days!!!

Superman SALE on Comixology

There wasn’t any other new releases in my subscriptions this week so I’d like to point out that Comixology has a massive Superman sale going on in honor of his 80 years. While I already have the physical copies of the Death, Reign, and Return of Superman, I couldn’t resist picking these up again along with some other stuff, like the excellent Birthright and All-Star Superman. So if you like Superman or just want to revisit stuff you had before, now’s an excellent time to stock up on the digital side.

New Comic Book Reviews for the Week of 4/11/18

Ninja-K #6 (Valiant)

What an awesome issue and a great jumping on point for new readers. This issue sets Ninja-K vs Ninja-K-2 who was originally chosen to be Ninja-K but who was downgraded when Colin King came along (Why not just make Colin King Ninja-J then Mi6??? But I digress). The art is superb and there is some nice ninja action going on within these pages. It looks like this new coalition is going to be more than Ninja-K can handle so by the sound of it, we’ll be getting some guest stars next month to help Ninja-K out. I have to say, in this new series, this has been the best issue yet and it has me excited for the next one!!!

Bloodshot Salvation #8 (Valiant)

YES!!! Back to the Bloodshot we all know and love after that lazy “artless” last issue. As for the art here, it is beautiful and how Bloodshot art should be done. Much like Ninja-K it also has the realistic painted look which I’ve really come to love. In this issue, Bloodshot and Bloodhound fight through the Deadside to save his daughter. A deal is made that saves her but in the process, Bloodshot and Bloodhound are transported to 4002 AD to assassinate someone to fulfill the deal. This makes sense as the timeline becomes more clear and the reader understands those first issues where the fighting was taking place in 4002 AD. I really hope this is a second wind in the Bloodshot title and that it can sustain it into what appears to be an awesome direction.

Gideon Falls #2 (Image)

This is the second issue of a deep mystery and it’s hard to review. It’s hard to review because I don’t know what is going on yet. The crazy guy in the city that collects nails has his apartment broken into and when he goes to tell his therapist, she doesn’t believe him. Meanwhile, The new Father to Gideon Falls is arrested for a murder he didn’t commit and the police think he is crazy because he says he followed Father Tom (the last preacher) out to the Black Barn, which is not there. Father Tom supposedly drowned 2 weeks before. Then Father Tom turns up dead in the woods and he’s holding a nail. It ends with the therapist seeing the Black Barn in the streets of the city. Gideon Falls is just getting started and the horror and “what the fuck” elements are all being layered and put into place. I love the atmosphere and the tension in the book. I really can’t wait to see where it goes!!!

Scooby Apocalypse #24 (DC)

24 issues and Daphne FINALLY says YES to Fred’s marriage proposal!!! And then there is a great disturbance in the fabric of reality as we prepare for something big from the 2 groups of “consumerist monsters” fighting for dominance of the mall. I know I’ve said this before but, The Walking Dead has nothing on Scooby Apocalypse. Great characters, complex motivations, and survival made entertaining vs TWD’s slog fest boredom. Now if only Shaggy gets some courage to tell the woman he likes that he actually likes her…

New Comic Book Reviews for the Week of 2/21/18

Ninjak vs The Valiant Universe #2 (Valiant)

Continuing on from last months issue #1, Ninjak has been blackmailed into stealing an item from MI6 and Neville has requested that LiveWire activate Unity (for which Ninjak is apart of) to hunt him down. Neville still doesn’t know that Ninjak is doing all of this because his ex-wife and child have been kidnapped. The only thing stopping Ninjak from telling him, when he was escaping MI6, was the nanites that Roku had injected into Ninjak, which she was listening in on. Cut to now and Bloodshot is the first person Ninjak goes up against. Points deducted from Bloodshot for trying to sneak up on a Ninja and getting caught in a reflection. He does get a piece of him and from that Bloodshot can verify that Ninjak has nanites in his blood, which he shouldn’t have. Meanwhile. Ninjak goes up against X-O Manowar, barely getting away, only for The Eternal Warrior to find him and try to talk him down from what he is doing. It is Bloodshot though, scoring those deducted points back, who has the final action of the issue by firing on Ninjak, which leads us into a cliff hanger for the next issue. Was Ninjak shot? Knocked out? How did the nanites relaying info to Roku go down? Was it some sort of EMP that Bloodshot fired?

This series is of course the adaption to the coming web short that will supposedly be released in April (crossing my fingers). It’s a good intro to the characters of the Valiant Universe and issue 2 here has one of my favorite covers of the year already. So pick this up because this is some good stuff!!!

The Amazing Spider-man #796 (Marvel)

I haven’t read this one yet but it is selling like hot cakes due to bad speculation. So much so that shady local comic shops (LCS’s) are jacking up the price from day 1 on loyal customers. I know, this doesn’t hurt me because I’m all digital, but it is another reason I’m happy to be done with buying physical copies. The reason I’m highlighting this issue is because this is yet another awesome cover this year. With this cover, the Ninjak cover above, and a coming X-O cover (I’ll be posting that when it hits stands), I’m loving the cover art that is being put out there this year. This is an Alex Ross cover, so you know it is awesome just based on his name alone. Just look at it… Simply marvelous!!!

The BEST of 2017 Year End Wrap!!!

BEST Movie of 2017

For me, it was without a doubt Spider-man Homecoming. Marvel did right by me in bringing Spidey to life in a way that was very true to his early (and Ultimate) comic book form. The wise cracks were great, the action and adventure were on target, and updating the suit with “Hey Suit lady.” was a great addition. I can’t wait to see ole web head in Avengers Infinity War and the next Spidey movie.

Runners up:

Wonder Woman

Star Wars The Last Jedi

Justice League

BEST TV Show of 2017

The BEST TV show of 2017 was without a doubt Mr. Robot. Season 2 saw this show fall from my top 10 due to the slow pacing but season 3 rocketed this excellent show back to the top spot with its intense tension that filled each and every episode this year. There were moments where I found myself just holding my breath for what was to come next because the tension was so damn high. I’m super excited for the 4th season in 2018!!!

Runners up:

Game Of Thrones

Humans

Blood Drive

BEST Comic of 2017

The BEST Comic for 2017 was Ninjak (a second volume just started as Ninja-K) from Valiant Comics. Think Tony Stark crossed with Batman for a hi-tech Ninja that contracts with MI-6. The art is extraordinary, the stories are adult and in depth, and it’s an all around fun read.

Runners up:

Spawn

X-O Manowar

Scooby Apocalypse

*I didn’t read any new release books from 2017 as I’m still digging into older books such as Game of Thrones and some cyberpunk stuff from back in the day. Nor did I actively play any video games much in the last year, so that’s why both of those are not on this list. I’m trying to keep to things that were released or happened in 2017.

Most Anticipated Movie of 2018

Avengers Infinity War

Most Anticipated TV Show of 2018

Mr. Robot

Most Anticipated Comic of 2018

Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe (companion comic for the coming web movie release)

And that’s the wrap… Here’s looking forward to 2018!!!!!!!!!!

My Current Comics Subscription List through Comixology

ninja-k-001-variant-metal-suayan-1502921409869_1280w

Ninja-K (Coming in November from Valiant): This is the next series in the Ninjak line. Which is my current favorite character to read. The last series was excellent and just came to an end recently. Ninjak #0 just came out as a recap and jumping on point for the new series. I highly recommend this one!!! Get the prior series too!!! Excellent writing and amazing art.

XO2017_001_COVER-A_LAROSA

X-O Manowar (Valiant): This is the second series of X-O Manowar (in the Valiant reboot). The first series was excellent and this one picks up sometime in the future, from where that series ended. We don’t know how or why Aric of Dacia is where he is but I’m sure it will all be revealed as keep going. We pick up with Aric on another planet, trying to live a normal life without the X-O armor, when he is pulled into a massive war.

harbingerrenegade1

Harbinger Renegade (Valiant): The current series continues to follow our favorite bunch of psiots as they try to keep it all together. As far as I’m concerned, the Harbinger story line is the best group superhero story line in comics today. It’s intricate and complex but it always seems to reward you with a great payoff.

Rapture-1-first-look-2-600x922

Rapture (Valiant): This was a 4 issue series that just came to an end. It’s hard to explain this one if you don’t know anything about the Valiant Universe. Basically, the Geomancer has assembled a Valiant team (Ninjak, Punk Mambo, Shadowman) to stop a demon from breaking through the Deadside into the Liveside on the Tower of Babel.

9f13c0e809a6bda5f4d47d476e4b18aa_xl

Faith and the Future Force (Valiant): This is another 4 issues summer series that features Faith in the lead role. Faith has to assemble a team of virtually every Valiant character to stop a villain that is changing time. Anyone who has read the Faith series will know that there are a ton of pop culture references and humor that a Faith book excels at doing.

SW_001_COVER-B_DJURDJEVIC

Secret Weapons (Valiant): This is another 4 issue summer series that features my favorite female hero: Livewire. This one has been fun because Livewire is looking for the unfortunate psiots who have been activated, but their powers are far over in left field (talking to birds, turning to immovable stone, Etc…). It also shows more of that romantic connection between Livewire and Ninjak that we are all cheering for!!!

bss-001-cover-b-rocafort-1492290245689_1280w

Bloodshot Salvation (Valiant): This is Bloodshot’s third series and the first was just released. So far it sets up the characters and is getting us introduced to how things will move forward. So we’ll see how it goes.

Spawn_276-1

Spawn (Image): You know who he is. Issue 300 is on the horizon and with it, it will become the longest independent comic to be published. Good stuff!!!

SA_1_cover

Scooby Apocalypse (DC): Someone did a “What if the Scooby gang was in the Zombie Apocalypse” photo shoot, and I believe that is where this idea came from. This is the monster apocalypse, where almost all the people in the world have been transformed into monsters. This is close to Rated “R” Scooby here. They kill the monsters and they fight to survive. It’s better than watching The Walking Dead… Just saying…

As you can see… Most of what I collect is in the Valiant Universe. I haven’t collected new issues of my favorite superhero (Spider-man) ever since Marvel retconned his history by ending the Peter/MJ  marriage. I still see that as the biggest travesty to ever happen in comics. I don’t have any current Marvel subscription because they have double downed into the SJW political nonsense to the point where it is annoying as hell. I like the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) way better than their comic universe these days. Both Marvel and DC keep rebooting in odd ways too. At least with this Valiant run, they started everything over with no connection to the past run. That’s really the only way to reboot a universe. Valiant also seems to have the most adult story lines and the best art out there right now. It really is a refreshing and awesome universe to read stories in. Check it out if you get a chance!!!
